New Fall Nail Shades: OPI Venice Collection

Disclosure: I received samples of the collection for review, but all opinions are my own.
When it comes to beauty and fashion, few people are as thrilled with the return of 90s trends as I am. The deep, dramatic colors – that looked amazing on tan skin and dark hair – were gorgeous. Back in the day our lips wore shades of matte, burgundy and our nails wore everything nude and sparkly. To tell you the truth, I have been on the hunt for the same shades I wore in high school for years.
So I was thrilled to open the box of four mini nail colors from OPI’s new Fall/Winter 2015 Venice Collection. A mix of deep, glam shades and warm nudes, it was a welcome sight and instantly sparked a bit of nostalgia. When tested, each nail polish was true to the bottle, as you can see here.
From left to right:
- Worth a Pretty Penne: OPI describes this as a shimmery copper, though on tan skin, it appears more champagne or sand. The shimmer is definitely there, but stays this side of glittery.
- My Gondola or Yours? A sheer black, this nail polish takes more of a professional touch when it comes to application. When I applied a thin first coat, the polish applied very, very sheer. As you see it here required four coats.
- Amore at the Grand Canal: This deep blue-based red is by far my favorite. It’s far deeper than a classic red, but could work with a variety of skin tones.
- A Great Opera-tunity: Perhaps the most nostalgia-inducing shade, this peachy-melon reminds me of some of my favorite 90s nail polishes. Though it’s lightness may make it a better option for fair skin tones.
The full collection includes 12 nail polishes in a variety of colors and finishes from flat white to pearly corals to deep, deep purples and reds. Each will fully compliment the return of iconic 90s beauty trends, like brown-based lip colors, that will be everywhere this season.
It may still be scorching outside, but I’m not waiting for the weather to cool. It’ll feel like fall, if only on my nails.
