#TejanaStyle: 5 Favorite Fall Lipsticks

The minute the weather drops below 90 degrees, I get excited.
Boots, scarves, cardigans, jackets – they all come out of hiding. Fall style is on my mind. During fall, everyone looks a little more polished, a little more dressed up. Summer sandals are put away and the heels come back out from hiding.
Since your wardrobe will look a little gussied up, so should your beauty. When you feel a little sleeker, nothing polishes off a look like the perfect shade of lipstick. While there is almost never a reason NOT to wear red lipstick, the fall favors deeper, more dramatic shades. What’s even better is that these shades often look great on olive, tan or medium complexions – which many of us Tejanas have. You’ll want to head to the beauty counter to find your faves, these are a few of mine.
The Reds

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope in Black Tie
At $50, this lipstick is certainly pricey. But, as soon as you slide the tube out of its super cool gold top, you’ll see why. It’s definitely top of the line. The first thing you’ll notice is the super deep shade of red – almost like black cherries – you only need to swipe it on once to get the full color effect. It also glides on smoothly and will make your lips look and feel like velvet.

Bésame Cosmetics 1933 Merlot Lipstick
Once you get past the super pretty packaging, you’ll find one of the sexiest red lipsticks on the market. It’s a soft, semi matte burgundy red. The creator was inspired by the glamour of the 1930s when she created this vintage-looking color. The unique shape helps you create precise edges without lip liner. When you are done, slip the little tube back in its velvet red pouch.

Lancôme Paris Color Design Sensational Effects Lipcolor in Wine Party
The name says it all – this color is like a gorgeous glass of good wine. The finish is semi matte, so you get a hint of moisture with your color, but it’s still matte enough for the color to be SUPER long lasting. Wine Party is one of 43 colors, many of them between the deep pink to red shades, so there are plenty to choose from.

L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Glossy Balm in Baby Berry
Ok, so maybe this isn’t a true red. This deep pink with a hint of red is shiny, shiny, shiny without looking wet. It’s a balm, so you will have to reapply throughout the day to keep it looking its best, but your lips will feel amazing. At $7.99 for this much product and quality, it’s a steal.

NARS Afghan Red
Afghan Red isn’t a new color, in fact it’s been in NARS’ collection forever, but it continues to be a favorite. The plummy red looks like you applied two or more lipsticks to get this perfect shade. It’s definitely unique – don’t expect to easily find a cheaper knock-off – and sophisticated.
