CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom, $6.94
I am a fan of the full, feathery lash. I love a giant, show-girl type mascara look, but lumps are my mortal enemy. CoverGirl’s Full Lash Bloom is a new release in their lines of fabulous, affordable mascaras. This provides that giant lash look, without making them appear wet or glossy. The brush as teeny tiny plastic bristles of varying lengths, which help grab and coat the shortest lashes.
L’Oréal Infallible The Blackbuster & Smokissime Eyeliner, $8.47 each
These are two different products, but I am putting them together in one listing. Both from L’Oréal, the two are part of the new wave of “chubby stick” liners. The idea behind the fatter, thicker applicator is that it makes creating a hard-to-achieve eye makeup look easier. The Blackbuster is a thick marker liner that creates a sharp, thick winged line quicker and with less precision than required of a thin, fine liquid liner. The Smokissime has a pointed sponge applicator that smooths on a powder liner. The line is already smoky when applied, but you can go over it with a shadow brush to blur the line even more.
L’Oréal Brow Stylist Designer Eyebrow Pencil, $7.97
As fuller, thicker brows remain en vogue, most of us must fill in what nature gave us to create them. However, there is an art to looking more like Cara Delevingne and less like Groucho Marx. This brow pencil from L’Oréal has a fine, hard point, which makes creating short, precise strokes a breeze. Those short, tiny strokes are what make filled in brows look more natural – not Sharpie-d on. The spoolie brush puts hairs in their place and helps blend the pencil strokes.
Maybelline the Nudes Palette, $9.95
A go-to palette is a must for every makeup collection. This new palette from Maybelline New York offers 12 colors ranging from a champagne highlighter to a black liner shade. It includes shimmers and mattes and has a wide variety of tones for many different neutral eye looks. The consistency is soft and powdery and easily blendable. L’Oréal also has a recently released nude eyeshadow palette, in fact the brand has two. However it is nearly double the price. For the price tag, the Maybelline palette is a better value and the colors are more versatile.
Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow
Sometimes when time is of the essence but you still want to look polished, the quick and easy eye is best. Neutrogena’s Crease Proof Eye Shadows are fabulous for such beauty emergencies. The cream shadows come in twist-up wands like lipsticks, and can be applied directly to the eyelid and blended with your fingers. It has built-in primer to help the color last all day. One shade is all you need, but you can easily blend more than one shade.
