L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Last Lip Color, $9.98
This is a legit non-transferable lip color. Many lipcolors described as “24-hour wear” leave lips feeling cakey, and frankly, yucky. This product comes with two sides: the lip color, which applies like a gloss on one side, and a lightweight balm on the other. The color is fast drying, so it requires a quick hand. The balm leaves lips feeling soft and smooth and ensures the color (no matter how vibrant) has a natural sheen.
NYX Butter Lipstick, $5.99
This lipstick is soft, soft, soft. NYX Butter Lipstick has all the consistency of a balm without sacrificing color impact. One or two quick swipes will give you a sheer effect, or you can build the color with more applications. Mary Janes, the color shown, is a fun, bright cherry. Other colors in the line run the gamut from bolds to nudes.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, $5.99
A very novel approach to matte lip color is a cream. This particular lip color applies like a traditional gloss does – with a tube with wand applicator – and is easy to apply. It sets to a no-shine matte finish with a slight powdery feel. Lips feel stained and light. You could top it with a gloss or balm to add some moisture, but it might ruin the finish.
Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer, $7.97
A gloss doesn’t often give off such intense color, but this one definitely does. This is not a light, sheer wash of color; this is bold and bright. The consistency is lightweight and smooth, so it doesn’t leave lips with that sticky feeling many lip glosses have. Instead of a typical sponge wand, the applicator is a tiny brush that draws a precise line — which is important for a formula that is so pigmented. What’s more, the color selection is amazing.

It’s always fun to find a relatively good-quality lippie in a value brand. Super bold and bright, the formula is very pigmented, but the consistency is thin and light. At under $6, Rimmel’s Show Off Lip Lacquer is a fabulous option for a trendy, vibrant shade that you will wear this season. If you are shopping for a staple lip color, invest in a classic shade from a prestige brand, but for a little fun, this is worth adding to your cart.
