All Day Entertainment: The New Casa Blanca Theatre is Amazing

As anyone who has read this blog knows, I am a huge film lover. I support local filmmakers, film festivals, documentary projects and everything in between. So when I discovered that Santikos Theatres were opening a grand, brand new theater in San Antonio, I was naturally excited. Not only is this company Texas-based, it works tirelessly to give back to the community. This year the company estimates they will donate some $12 million to charitable efforts through the San Antonio Area Foundation.
While that’s reason alone to visit Casa Blanca, the theater’s incredible amenities are the real stars. The theater boasts 16 screens, two of which are the largest in Texas, and all of which use laser digital projection, making this the first theater in the world to be 100 percent laser illuminated.
The recliner-style seats available in six theaters make visitors feel like they are lounging at home as opposed to squished next to your neighbor. Having just watched a movie in tight quarters next to a larger man, I was excited about having some personal space and an opportunity to put my feet up. Oversized chairs welcome moviegoers in the other theaters.
Guests who feel peckish are in luck! Movie favorites like popcorn, candy and soft drinks are obviously on the menu, but so are several upscale food choices in the select theaters that offer in-theater dining. That menu features edamame, wings, or full meals like burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, salads and more.
Those with sweet tooth will appreciate the deluxe desserts like Tuxedo Truffle Mousse Cake or Strawberry Shortcake, or they could enjoy one of the many flavors from the gelato bar. I can soon see myself enjoying much-needed couple time with my husband with a wine glass in hand, though he might opt for a beer or a cocktail from the full bar.
Once you’re done with your movie, you can head to the 16-lane bowling alley and enjoy a few frames. Or perhaps a few video games are your heat-beating activity of choice. You could stay in the theater all day, and since it’s summer, all-day entertainment indoors is just what I’m looking for.
